Kiribati Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Kiribati Ministry of Information, Communication and Transport held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially launch the commencement of civil works associated with the landing of the East Micronesia Cable in Tarawa.  Funding partners from Australia, Japan and US are pleased to celebrate this critical milestone in the implementation of the project which will benefit up to 100,000 people across Kiribati, FSM and Nauru through the delivery of a submarine cable to provide faster, higher quality and more reliable internet connectivity.

The project remains on track for completion by December 2025.
